Our customer calls us out after having a certified dryer tech come service her dyer. She has had to have the element in the dryer replaced a couple of times in addition to replacing the computer in it, but the problem persisted.
We took a look for her to see what issues could be lurking behind it all. It ended up being under it all!!! what we found saved her home and possibly even more.
Having your dryer vents inspected and cleaned regularly are essential to home safety!
The dryer vent pipe underneath the home was slanted upwards… a lot!!!
Your vent pipes are meant to have fall so gravity helps do the work for you.
In addition to the negative fall in the vent pipe, they decided to install fittings to go UP & OVER!!!
Not only does this make the hot air harder to escape, it creates build up points for lint
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Which led to an incredible amount of buildup in the pipes!!!
The lack of proper air flow was creating extra heat backup to the sensors in the dryer causing it to trip it’s safety feature. Not allowing it to heat up, preventing an inevitible house fire, let alone the clothes getting dried.
SOLUTION:
-The only way to have proper flow was to redirect the dryer vent pipe parallel with the home out a different wall.
-Assuring that we had the proper amount of fall, proper strapping, screwing each piece together, and finally taping each seam along the way. Then popping out the cinderblock wall foundation.
